Board Members

President: Alex Blanchard

Vice-President/President-Elect: Beth Brown
Beth Brown has her B.S. and M.S. in Civil Engineering from Washington State University and relocated to Tacoma in 2013 after accepting a position at Swenson Say Faget Structural Engineering.  In her position as a Project Engineer she works on various projects from designing single family residence, to large mixed-use facilities, to seismic studies and seismic retrofits of older buildings.  Beth has served on the board for a number of years first as the philanthropy chair, overseeing all of YPN’s philanthropy events and activities, and now as the Vice President.  In her spare time, you can find her rooting on the Cougs, trying out new recipes, spending time with friends and family, and traveling to various fun locations.

Past President: Chris Waldron

Chris joined Spectrum Pension Consultants in 2012. While at Spectrum, Chris has gained valuable knowledge and experience that has allowed him to deliver high quality consulting services to his clients. His role is focused on both service and sales. He is responsible for the ongoing client service under our platform services and IRA service offering. With strengths in building client relationships he actively works with our strategic partners to develop new client relationships.

He is a member of the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries (ASPPA), earned the designation of Qualified 401(k) Administrator (QKA) and the designation of Qualified Pension Consultant (QPA) in 2014. Chris completed the requirements to earn the designation of Certified Pension Consultant (CPC) in 2016. Committed to the betterment of the industry, Chris earned his Accredited Investment Fiduciary® (AIF®) to apply these principals to his entire Client and Advisor base.

As a graduate of Western Washington University, Chris earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in finance. Originally from Gig Harbor, Chris enjoys the outdoors with Manny (his dog), golf, and volunteers as a board member with the young professional’s network of Tacoma-Pierce County.

Treasurer: Alex Folger

Alex graduated from Washington State University in 2015 with his Bachelor of Business Administration degree with concentrations in Accounting and Marketing. After graduation, he joined the team at The Doty Group, P.S., a public accounting firm located in the heart of downtown Tacoma. During his employment at The Doty Group, Alex gained experience working in taxation for businesses, individuals, estates, and trusts. In addition to tax projects, he is frequently  involved in performing audit, review, and compilation engagements for businesses in the area. Alex obtained his CPA designation in the state of Washington in May of 2017. He holds active memberships with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Washington Society of Certified Public Accountants. Alex enjoys spending time with friends and family, along with enjoying many of the outdoor luxuries that the great state of Washington has to offer.
Communications: Angie Tronset

Angie Tronset relocated to Tacoma from Boston, MA when she attended college at the University of Puget Sound. She fell in love with the area and now works as The Director of Career Development for Northwestern Mutual. In her role as Communications for YPN Angie writes our monthly News Letter, manages our Facebook page, website and calendar. Angie’s free time is spent horseback riding, enjoying the sun on Hood Canal, and cooking for her husband Gavin and their dog Locke.

Committee Chairs

Golf Tournament Chair: Austin Patjens
Austin Patjens is a Tacoma native with a B.A. in Finance from Pacific Lutheran University. He has worked in the banking industry for over a decade and is currently the Portfolio Manager and Commercial Credit Underwriter for Heritage Banks Allenmore office. As the Golf Tournament Chair for YPN Austin organizes and runs YPN’s annual golf tournament (Sept 9th, 2016). Austin is a father of 3, he and his wife (Nicole) have lived in the North End of Tacoma since 2012. Austin has no downtime, and has not had a true hobby in many years. He spends his weekends playing with his kids and dog. Occasionally he is able to escape the clutches of fatherly responsibilities to play some golf or basketball with friends. Austin is also president elect for his Children’s preschool and coach of their rec league athletic teams. Go Hawks.

Networking: Mary Brickle
Mary is a nonprofit development professional, committed to cultivating authentic relationships by connecting people with the causes they care about. She currently works as Manager of Corporate and Foundation Relations with Tacoma Art Museum. In addition to her involvement with YPN, she is Co-Chair of the Marketing and Communications Committee of the South Sound Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) and serves on the Pierce County Parks and Recreation Citizen’s Advisory Board. When not working to acquire the knowledge, experience, and connections to grow as a dynamic fundraiser, Mary enjoys travelling, marathon reading sessions, and exploring the great outdoors. Originally from the east coast, Mary moved to the Gritty City in 2014, after graduating from the University of Richmond and a year abroad living in Thessaloniki, Greece.

Membership: Ryan Baxter

Ryan Baxter has been a Washingtonian for almost all of his life. Growing up in the Tacoma area, he then moved to Puyallup where he graduated from Emerald Ridge High School in 2003.  Wasting no time, he joined First American Title Insurance Company a month after high school graduation and has been there ever since.  He currently works as a Business Development Representative for First American, putting to use his years of experience to help professionals in the Real Estate and Lending industry.  Though having just joined YPN Tacoma-Pierce County in 2017, Ryan is excited to help others see the value in connecting with other young professionals in the community.  In his free time, Ryan thoroughly enjoys discovering new breweries or tap rooms, wherein you’re likely to find him diving deep into conversations with strangers.  Cheers! 
Philanthropy: Megan Johnson
Megan holds a B.A. in Sociology focused on social inequality/organization and family & life course from Western Washington University. She is a Senior Employment Consultant at Trillium Employment Services, a nonprofit organization committed to integrating people with intellectual disabilities into the workforce​. Megan also enjoys running, reading, and traveling.
