YPN Volunteers with the Special Olympics!

Saturday, April 13^th from 8am – 1pm

Mount Tahoma High School, 4634 S 74^th St, Tacoma.

Tacoma Unified Sports is an inclusive sports program that combines an approximately equal number of Special Olympics athletes (individuals with intellectual disabilities) and partners (individuals without intellectual disabilities) on teams for training and competition. By playing side-by-side participants not only develop their physical skills and social skills as they practice for competition, but challenge the prejudices that exist around intellectual disabilities.

Volunteer Opportunities include the following:
Venue Coordinator
Facilities Coordinator
Officials/Referees Coordinator
Volunteer Coordinator
Be a Fan in the Stands-Cheer and Support teams during game play

Other positions will include general duties such as greeting families at the gate, directions, handing out uniforms, team check in, etc…

YPN goes to the Sounders game!

YPN is headed to see the Seattle Sounders vs the New England Revolution Saturday, April 13. This is a great opportunity to network with fellow YPN members or make new connections…and of course have fun in the process!
Seating is limited to 15 people, so we will offer this opportunity to members first. Registration will be members only until April 2, and then non-members will be able to sign up for the remaining seats.
Game time is 1pm. We will be taking the Doyle’s bus to the game which leaves 2 hours before game time.
Time: 10:30am to 3:30pm Date: Saturday April 13  

Value: $57 Member Cost: $45 Non-Member Cost: $50

Congratulations to the new Board and Committee Chairs!

This past Wednesday we elected our new Board of Directors and Committee Chairs for the 2013-14 year.  It was a wonderful time at Cork! Nick and the staff at Cork! have been amazing each Wednesday as YPN descends on them to unwind halfway through the week and enjoy meeting friends, new and old.  We also honored a few individuals and the Committee Chairs for the work they have done throughout the past year.  Without the Committee Chairs, YPN would not be the group it is today! We would like to thank the Committee Chairs for all of their hard work. We also unveiled our new logo at the event, please check it out! The next year is going to bring exciting things for YPN, we hope you will be a part of shaping the organization.

Annual Meeting and Elections

Happy Holidays YPNers!

'Tis the Season to spread YPN joy!

Come out and help put smiles on family faces as we get in the spirit of the holiday!

YPN is partnering with the Sunrise Rotary to help bring happiness to less fortunate families in Tacoma.

Last year, YPN & Rotary successfully served 900 people!  This year Rotary needs our help to assist with taking pictures with Santa, watch and clean the tables as the families rotate through for breakfast, and handing out toys.

Please meet at the Goodwill location in Downtown Tacoma on 27th and Tacoma Ave on the second floor on Saturday, December 8th from 8-11am.
